Since the firm’s inception in 1975, GKV Capital Management has been singularly focused on portfolio management. Our team is led by Peter Vogel, who founded the firm, and his son Greg Vogel, who joined in 2002 after a very successful career as an equity research analyst and managing director at Banc of America Securities. For nearly 40 years of market gyrations, crashes and bubbles, GKV’s business plan remains wholly unchanged. We strive to provide superior investment performance, exemplary customer service, and complete transparency so that clients can make informed financial decisions.
Both Peter and Greg have a tremendous background in investment analysis, selection and portfolio management which has led to an enviable long-term performance record for both equities and fixed income portfolios relative to the major indices.
As a small, independent advisor we are able to combine our unique portfolio management experience with a high level of customer support and service. Peter and Greg are supported by an indispensable team comprised of four talented employees, each of which have been with the firm for more than 10 years.
Peter founded GKV Capital Management Company in 1975. He started his career as a portfolio manager of institutional and individual portfolios at Citibank. While at Citibank he was also responsible for management supervision of privately held companies in which Citibank exercised a fiduciary responsibility. After his tenure at Citibank, he became President and CEO of New West Equities, an investment management company with assets of approximately $250 million. Prior to creating GKV Capital, he was also a senior portfolio manager at Western Asset Management Company, a subsidiary of Wells Fargo Bancorp. He was responsible for the management of institutional equity portfolios worth about $1 billion. He remained at Western Asset Management until establishing GKV Capital. During his career Peter has appeared as a speaker and panelist at numerous investment conferences.
Peter received his MBA in finance from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a BA in English from Colgate University.
Greg has been working on Wall Street for more than 20 years. He is recognized as a leading financial analyst with experience at both large investment banks and boutique investment firms. He has been a regular guest on financial television including CNBC and CNN and has been frequently mentioned in the business press including The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Forbes and other national financial publications. In 2000, Greg was ranked in The Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” analyst survey for his coverage of the software industry.
Prior to joining GKV Capital, Greg was a Managing Director and Senior Equity Research Analyst at Banc of America Securities covering the software and internet industry. Greg’s career began at Montgomery Securities and his tenure coincided with the emergence and subsequent bust of the Internet bubble.
Greg received a BA in philosophy from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
